How to Apply Bindi

The memory of the divine eye and the wish to get strong physical capacities has resisted in India until nowadays: it is enough if we mention bindi: that jewel worn by Indian women on their forehead. There are a lot of people who dedicate their life only to the purpose of re-gaining lost divine capacities. One of their first missions is to discover the location of the third eye. It is amazing that most of them really succeed. And probably those women who wear a bindi feel stronger and special compared to women belonging to other cultures. And you have to know that nowadays, when any person can become citizen of the world, nobody cares if a European girl marries an Indian or there are different and surprising intermarriages. In some people’s folklore it is said that a very intelligent person is born having a star on the forehead, of course an invisible one. But Indian culture can make such stars obvious, not only visible, and not only for extremely bright person but for each married woman, especially. It is actually a symbol of beauty, applied between a woman’s eyebrows. Actually, since times immemorial philosophers affirmed that the forehead is the gate to our soul. And maybe they were sure it was right.

Traditionally, a bindi used to be round and red, but nowadays it can have any shape or size which can match the best your personality. Apart from red, Indian women used to wear maroon bindis too, as a symbol of prosperity. It is made by a soft vermilion powder, by professionals, of course, only using their finger tips. If you are not skilled to make it or to apply it, don’t try because you won’t succeed and you will feel frustrated. The best thing is to purchase one and you will feel certainly satisfied. Experts use a sort of coin as support for manufacturing a bindi. Its disc has an empty space where a wax like paste is inserted. Then, vermilion is applied on it and when the disc is removed, you can obtain a perfectly round bindi. One of the ingredients used for a bindi is zinc oxide.

When you apply it, your skin must be perfectly clean, and your makeup must be totally removed. A bindi comes usually with a sticker which must be gently peeled off and then you can apply it carefully.

Furthermore you must be careful not to let it taken by children under the age of three because it can be swollen. To continue with, before applying it you have to check if your skin is sensitive in order not to develop an allergic reaction to one of its ingredients.

You can keep it in its original package and if the original glue is not efficient any more, after cleaning the bindi with alcohol, you can apply it using any kind of glue which is not toxic, of course.

You can apply your bindi in the middle of your forehead as well and don’t forget that one day maybe you can feel wiser, as it is said that it can trigger wisdom chakra.
