Celtic TattooThe celtic tattoo has its origins in Scotland, Ireland, Wales and England and dates back as far as 2000 years ago or more, however, these kinds of tattoos have been enjoying a comeback over the last few years and is even fashionable right now and has been considered a trend already. Although there are no fixed definitions of celtic designs and they are freelanced by each person individually, there are general definitions that can be used as a basis to start from. Animals are an important basis for a celtic tattoo and certain animals symbolize certain characteristics. These designs and / or animals that make up the basis of the tattoo are determined by the tattoo wearer and each has its own personal meaning. Not only do animals have certain meanings, but also the designs themselves. There are different general patterns used and they are interlacing knotworks, mazes, spirals and steps. The spirals are primarily used to refer to ones personal spirit and the balance that is made between the inner and outer self. Spirals can also symbolize or represent the cosmos, the heavens or water and waves. The maze patterns also include the so-called step patterns and are a reference to your path in life. It can, for example, be a labyrinth which represents your path of learning and your experiences. There are also the so-called knotwork interlacing patterns. These patterns are generally representative of your interactions in life and you connections to your being human. Not only is a celtic tattoo based on your feelings and what you want to express, it is also usually colorful and has a very appealing look to it. If there is a word to be written in your tattoo , there are even celtic letters which are very ornate and decorative. A celtic tattoo can also be used to symbolize a heritage that has its roots in England, Scotland, Ireland or Wales and certain celtic designs can connect one with a certain origin. The red dragon is a good example, it is considered a sign of Welsh descent and was historically also considered the symbol that most represented Wales, even to this day. If one does not like the red dragon it is also acceptable to replace it with a daffodil. To represent a Scottish origin one used the thistle, which was the celtic symbol used for this region a long time ago. A three leaf clover or shamrock is the symbol for Ireland. The celtic tattoo can also stand for countless other meanings and symbolize many other virtues, characteristics or states. In fact, this form of artwork with deeper meaning was taken over by many other cultures of the time, such as the Vikings. Celtic Tattoo Pictures
