Dolphin Tattoos

Some of the most frequently demanded designs are those that have to do with dolphin tattoos. They are currently and have been before, extremely popular and some are so creatively done that they are very attractive and appealing. Although they look nice and can be very eye-catching, there is of course a deeper meaning behind them.

Dolphin tattoos can have a few potential meanings that they are supposed to symbolize, and dolphins are probably so beloved because they represent positive feelings and ideals. If you see a dolphin and think of it for a second, you will probably not come up with anything negative. In fact, quite the opposite is true. You will automatically think of sea creatures that enjoy their freedom in the great seas and who like to play and do tricks. These are also not even impressions, but reality because dolphins do love their free roaming ways and are known for their sense of fun and love of frolicking. That is why that they are also such popular zoo or aquarium attractions and the trainers can teach them how to do tricks and play with balls, just to mention a few examples. This is why it is generally claimed that the symbolism behind dolphin tattoos is for freedom, fun and lightheartedness.

An interesting fact is that the majority of dolphin tattoos are created for women and that the dolphin is one of the most used symbols by women. That does not mean that a man cannot ask for a dolphin as the main theme of a tattoo. Many men that love the water  such as beach lovers, surfers or boaters also frequently request for dolphin tattoos. Through the dolphin they most likely want to symbolize their love and understanding for the water and want everyone to know that they have some special connection to the seas.

The fact that dolphin tattoos are so popular automatically means that there are also many variations of the designing. There are for example, plain dolphin tattoos, or dolphins that are integrated into a mythical or futuristic design, and there are even celtic tattoos that have a dolphin either intertwined in the artwork or as a center symbol and then there are the tribal tattoos that can make very outstanding and dramatic dolphin designs.

Some of the most common designs seen though are the plain artwork dolphins that are made to be unrealistic. These are mostly used as little accents, such as a small shoulder tattoo or back of the neck or on the ankle. These kinds of dolphin tattoos are very common among women. The mythical or futuristic dolphin is realistically designed and often includes scenery, and has a different meaning behind in, and that would be for a change in life, new start of hope for the future. The most impressive dolphin tattoos, however, are classified as tribal and celtic. These forms are very impressive and intricate and provide the most room for creativity and make the most use of colors and blending of colors.
