Research efforts into the health benefits of resveratrol have come a long way over the past decade or so. In more specific terms, resveratrol has been shown to aid in cancer treatment and prevention by hindering malignant cells from growing further. Resveratrol actually prevent these cells from drawing any more nutrients, thus weakening it and rendering it more easily destroyed by traditional cancer treatment procedures. Scientists are so optimistic of resveratrol’s ability to fight the spread and growth of cancer cells that is has been hailed by many as a potent new weapon in the fight against cancer.

Resveratrol in common foods

Resveratrol actually exists in its natural state in many foods that are commonly consumed by various cultures. It is an ingredient of such foods as cranberries, raspberries, blueberries, peanuts, and of course, grapes. Nevertheless, the resveratrol content of these foods is such that you would have to consume them in extremely large amounts–certainly more than an average human being can consume normally–in order to derive the full health benefits of resveratrol.

Consuming these foods will give you a certain measure of protection against certain diseases, although talking resveratrol in supplement form is really the best way to gain the maximum health advantage that resveratrol can provide. The good news is that there are many resveratrol supplements available on the market today, and you can take your pick of products that range from teas and resveratrol infused beverages to simple pills or capsules. No matter which form of resveratrol supplement you take however, you can take comfort in the fact that you have in your possession one of the most potent health foods around.
